iv had my mkiv for just over a year now and the rear washer has never worked so today i finaly got round to looking into why,
ive checked the pipe is still connected at the front (washer bottle) and rear (removed tailgate cover) all seems to be ok but still no spray, the water level is going down when i try the rear washer but i have no idea where its going to!
is it a one piece pipe from the bottle to the rear washer jet or are there joins or elbows etc in the system?
right just re-connected the pipe behind the c pillar (tho i would say its above the roof liner!)
did the repair on the pipe connected to the wiper motor as when i tried it water sprayed every where INSIDE the car!
then discovered that the water is comming out from the actual pipe attatchment on the motor, cant see any cracks in it so my question is....is it fooked? do i need to replace the whole motor or just the spray nozzle section or can it be repaired???
Im having the same problem i have put it down to the cold weather freezing the water in the pipe and cracking the tubing (mental note to increase screen cleaner mix) i have been told worst case will need to lock section as water gets in to it and ruins it and nakes your alarm go off randomly. As a temp fix i pulled the lining away from inside of the boot and are yet to fully take it apart to see what damage has happened
Start with a pair of pliars and carefully pull out the the washer jet end after lifting up the cover. Squirt and see if water comes out - if yes then try and replace jet end and this might solve problem.
If not then the turning mechanism can become dislodged and will need replacing where it spins incorrectly (it basically corrodes). It's really hard to describe without pictures. Perhaps someone could repost link.
