Rear Spoiler ? Dont know where to start ?

Postby Smiffy_v5 » Fri Apr 25, 2008 11:04 pm

I am looking for some advice on how to go about adding a rear spoiler.

Dont really have a clue on where to start looking and actually have it fitted etc, I dont mind giving things ago myself but don't think I am up to drilling holes in my v5 :? .

I live in the Kingston/Surrey area and work near Croydon.

I have got pretty much exactly the same car as the one in this post.

Thanks to pompeypete for the pics.

That is exactly the spoiler I want, just finishes the back end off nice...

Any rough ideas on cost for the whole job would also help.

Thanks In Advance

most good body shops will use someting called Sikaflex to stick these and side skirts on. I believe that it is a very strong but flexible adhesive. Belt and braces would be to bolt them on too but I don't think that is necessary. I think that the adhesive is available to mere mortals such as us if you want to try - just get it straight first time though!!

Had mine fitted a couple of weeks ago it was bonded on and screwed from the inner side .
We used a starret hole saw to drill a 15mm hole on the inner skin then a pilot hole for the self tapping pan head screws
bonded the spoiler into position then pulled home and fitted securely using the pan head screws.
Then i got two rubber bungs and inserted them into the 15mm holes (after painting the newly cut edges) for a factory finnish.
Looks excellent and cost including the spoiler was £100 its not what you know.................
