Swindon to host Radio 1 Big Weekend

Submitted by Martin on March 17, 2009 – 11:13 amNo Comment

The BBC have announced that Lydiard Park in Swindon will be the host venue of Radio 1′s Big Weekend this year.

Billed as ‘Europe’s biggest free ticketed event’, it will take place at the 260-acre site in the Wiltshire town over the weekend of the 9th and 10th May.

Swindon’s Lydiard Park can hold up to 20,000 people a day and most of the tickets will go to residents of Swindon and surrounding areas.  Music fans will have to wait a while before knowing whether or not they can attend however, as registration for the 40,000 free tickets doesn’t open until Tuesday 14th April.
