First bands announced – Mumford & Sons, Tinchy Stryder, The Go! Team, The Fall, Local Natives, Laura Veirs and more…

Here’s the first batch of bands who will be gracing the Summer Sundae Weekender stages this August, when we celebrate the 10th anniversary of our festival.

As usual we have the same eclectic mix of cutting edge artists from all over the musical and comedy map, arriving from across the globe to suit your many varied tastes.

There’ll be plenty of new…

Current favourites Mumford & Sons are bringing their stomping brand of banjo-weilding rock to Summer Sundae. With rousing anthems like The Cave and Winter Winds it’s easy to see why we’ve fallen under their spell of late.

To the other side of pop with one of the UK’s biggest Grime MC’s Tinchy Stryder, the original “star in the hood” already has two number one singles under his belt.

We’ve also bagged Brighton’s The Go! Team one of the most inventive bands of the past decade and the arresting Los Angeles six-piece Local Natives, whose current song Airplanes is playlisted on BBC Radio 1.

There’ll be artists returning for our 10th anniversary…

We welcome back the fantastic Laura Veirs on a wave of critical acclaim with her magical sixth album July Flame and electro rockers The Whip who shook our socks off in 2007 with their entertaining brand of pulsating disco punk. Lou Rhodes also returns after an appearance in 2002 with Lamb.

There’ll also be classic acts too boot…

The tenacious Mancunian Mark E Smith brings his mighty band The Fall, their 28th studio album is due after recently signing to Domino. We also have one of the most influential indie bands of the 80s, Northampton’s Woodentops.

Add to this… The Sunshine Underground, Wave Pictures, Goldheart Assembly,  Erland And The Carnival and A Genuine Freakshow.

And of course what you’ve come to expect; over 100 artists, cocktail and real ale bars, Kidszone, sumptuous surrounds of the garden, quality Camping and a full slice of what you won’t be expecting too.

There are plenty more big name and brand new artists to be announced, more to come later this month. Keep up to date with the latest info at www.summersundae.com
