Basement Jaxx at The Big Chill
Basement Jaxx; Friendly Fires; ‘Good Times’ legend Norman Jay; and Wonky Pop join headliners Orbital as the Big Chill 2009 begins to take shape.
The announcement follows the confirmation of Orbital ==- reforming at the request of the Big Chill – after a five year sabbatical.
‘‘It’s not an exercise in nostalgia at all, the time just seems right,’’ says Phil Hartnoll. ‘‘They came to us with the offer, and everything just seemed to fall into place. I’ve played at the Big Chill before, I DJed there and played with Long Range, and had a really good time. It’s a great festival. Also the timing seems good: 20 years of being together.’’
They are joined by fellow dance heavy-weights Basement Jaxx who are making their first ever appearance at the Big Chill on the back of the success of their recent greatest hits collection.
Wonky Pop – the team behind the Wonky tour and various always-sold-out club nights will present a cornucopia of cool, credible and eccentric pop in the shape of Friendly Fires. Friendly Fires eponymous debut album charted to widespread acclaim in September this year. Further acts for the Big Chill 2009 will be announced in the coming months.
The Big Chill takes place between 7th Aug 2009 and 9th Aug at Eastnor Castle, UK.
