The Big Chill begun in 1994, and it still keeps it’s original ethos and atmosphere that makes sure Chillers return year-on-year.

This three-day boutique festival is likened to Glastonbury for creativeness and craziness with arts and music put on level pegging. Two open air stages host the live acts during the weekend while a series of DJ tents and bar make sure the raver inside us all is entertained by a myriad of blips and beats.

The festival’s most distinctive feature is the arts trail that snakes high up a steep hill; it’s a fantastic spectacle when the stars come out and an apt symbol of the boundaries organisers have broken. Don’t expect to recognise many of the acts unless you’ve been before, but don’t fret because the anti-genre pigeonholing policy the organisers employ means there is something for everybody.

Facilities include a general store, bars, food and merchandise stalls, cash point and 24 hour cafe. Alcohol cannot be brought into the main arena but is permitted in the camping areas although strictly no glass. Camping is free although camper vans require a ticket.
